Re-Born In Insect Form Exhibition - March 2012

A personal collaborative exhibition with illustrator Alexis Goodwin celebrating themes of new life and rebirth through insect forms.
Alexis’s strange and sinister illustrations were shown alongside my carnival-like costumes in a show room in Soho.
The launch night saw Alexis Goodwin performing live drawing on snap shots of the crowd that attended the show, metamorphosing them into insect like creatures, while a series of films showcasing my costumes were projected to classical and electronic music.
Here are extracts from my sketch book in which I documented how I made the butterfly tail coats kinetic and could also fold them back on themselves but still be light and strong. I also experimented with hand stencilling on the silk to make the bold butterfly pattern.
